Bean Project #3

The second part of the bean project was to get two beans to go in different directions without using our hands.
The two index cards were taped to the table and connected by a string making it look like a catapult.
A smaller piece of paper was placed in the center of both index cards making a shelf for the beans to sit on.
Then we taped a ruler to the table making it stand upright to tie a string to the top of the ruler and connect it to the string that is holding the two index cards together.
We planned on cutting the string so that the bottom string would be turned loose, sending the beans flying in different directions. But when we did trial runs it did not work consistently.
At the last minute we decided to tape the string to the bottom of the table and cut it that way.
It seemed to work better and more consistently.

2nd bean project

Taping the bottom of two index cards to the table.
Cut a split on both index cards to make a shelf.
Put holes on top of both cards and connect string to both cards.

Pull up the string and let go and the beans should go in different directions.

Placed two cards together and taped the bottom of them to the table.
Cut a hole in the top of the device and tied string to the note cards.
Pulled the device all the way back and placed the bean on top of the pulled back card.
The bean went too far.
Cut a line through the card to place a small shelf to hold the bean in place while pulling the device backwards.
It worked after many attempts to pull the device back at the right angle (110) to get it to go the right distance.
